Don't you think that Resolve is closer than hitfilm to being an Adobe alternative as an all-in-one solution, even in a VFX oriantated workflow?
They have just not been recommended in this article, like many other mirorless cameras
There is still an option, at least: installing Windows on your Mac ;-)
VFX might stand vor VeryspecialFX...
I'd try Hitfilm AND Resolve.
I sometimes use Resolve on a 2010 Win laptop with a 1GB graphics card and only 6GB RAM.
With optimized media (=proxy) it works.
When I tried out Hitfilm on this laptop (about one year ago, version 3) it crashed very often, so I moved to Resolve (and love it - and it has improved VERY much as an editor)!
You'll see what works best for you (and your machine). Good luck!
As previous Adobe Premiere user (btw I'm not a pro) I'm very impressed how Davinci Resolve (only used it for color grading) has improved as an editor for the last year.
It may still be a bit behind but the improvements with every update are really impressive.
Give it a try!
