You're definitely right, Clark. But I'm not going to waste mental RAM worrying if people will take my advice on this forum.
I generally have a lot of things on my mind. My NFS forum score is never one of them.
The Canon C100 by far. An awesome stepping stone into more professional cameras. A good lighting kit. For budget-friendly options, I would check out Aputure LED panels. Audio is a whole other thing that largely depends on what work you do.

Actually, Vinyl (a really awesome show on HBO, in case you haven't heard) was shot on the Sony F55, and they used film emulation to fit the period.
I'm also pretty sure Ridley Scott's Rush used film emulation, but I could be wrong.
So no, film emulation isn't solely fodder for low-budge pieces.
