Well...You neglected to mention two other popular formats. 'The Wrestler' was shot on Super 16mm.
Before his switch to the Arri Alexa, Roger Deakins preferred shooting on Super 35mm. By the way, when Super 16mm is properly lensed, exposed, processed, and printed, your 'grainy, dirty' look dissapears and can easily pass for standard 35mm. DuArt film lab in NYC was (and maybe still is) a strong proponent of these 'Super ' formats.
