Thank you for the feedback (and for your great work), Steve! While we unfortunately did not receive the email you mention, we did make corrections to the article based on your notes here. Much appreciated.
Madeline, we hear you! This is such a common feeling. We answered your question (or at least gave some tips from our own experience) on the podcast this week! https://nofilmschool.com/2018/06/indie-film-weekly-061418-podcast
Hey Alex, we answered your question in the last Indie Film Weekly episode!

Thanks, guys, this is all very helpful. We agree that the boards need a functionality upgrade but of course every big technical change is easier said than done. I promise you we're paying attention to these requests, even if it takes a while to act on them for various reasons.
BTW, for those of you missing Ryan, be sure to check out our First Feature podcast, where every episode he is walking you through a different aspect of production on his film AMATEUR: https://nofilmschool.com/tags/firstfeature
Hey guys, Thanks for sharing your thoughts and being part of the community. We actually have more original content on the site than ever. Just in the past couple months, we posted over 100 videos of new tech and gear from the NAB showroom floor, three new podcasts each week, and dozens of filmmaker interviews from SXSW and Tribeca. That being said, we of course value the opinions of those of you who have been around and new community members, too! We have been working to cut down on board spam that unfortunately comes with the territory of a well-trafficked site, but are very open to your suggestions for improvement of the content and the boards. Please share your constructive advice! What would you like to see more or less of?
Respectfully, Lee, did you read the post? He is making the same point that you did...after he got over his fear/distaste for marketing, he learned what an important and even enjoyable part of the process it is. Kudos to him and for sharing what he learned with other filmmakers!
