First time I've gotten to see a movie I worked on pop up on this site. All the feels.
*deep sigh*
Well, it looks like a really cool slider product! The downside is that it's named after a racial slur. So yeah, I know we call for Ubangi's all the time on film sets. It's the camera offset that is usually used on dolly. https://www.willyswidgets.com/products/32-length-3-hole-ubangi/
That being said, its not right. I believe we started calling it a ubangi because it was believed that the ubangi was a tribe in the congo that put lip plates in. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lip_plate But it was just something an idiot spun up. Its actually pretty close to dropping a N bomb... http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=Ubangi
So yeah, there's your racism in film history lesson for the day. Maybe tomorrow we'll talk about mother daughter angles.
@panther please change the name.
@filmmakers just call it a camera offset next time you're on set. Your dolly grip will know what you mean.
SilverStack is god. SiverStack is life. I'm curious how this is going to play out, considering we're not allowed to handle dailies in most 600 agreements. But its priced for larger shows? Idk. I have never needed anything more than Silverstack vanilla for any Loading job. I haven't even had to break out XT yet.
I've been following you guys for years now but you guys can't be putting out bad info. The Optimo 17-80 is a f/2 (T2.2) zoom and has been around for a while. Along with the Fujinon HK3 and HK4 which are both cine zooms with even faster stops at T2.0. Sorry to break up the party =[.
PTL! a 3pin XLR 24v camera. I love that. Now if that 3pin lemo can be used as R/S we're in business. Would love to give one of these a try especially because I haven't worked with a red camera in probably 3 years now, excluding the DXL.
