Red starting prices are like Tesla starting prices. You dont buy it at stock. You always upgrade and buy options. Want a memory card? Proprietary. Want XLR audio? That module costs 25% the price of an entire BlackMagic 4k cinema camera... Likely at léast...
But - will clients pay more for you to bring your Red? Does it make the price back from production rental fees?
Thats kinda the business model. And thats their choice so no hard feelings.
I am happy they are pushing the industry forward with AF. That pushes BlackMagic (and others) to invest into useable AF. Even if just for basic shoots would be nice.
Plus... You are shooting on a Red!
100% agree about RF mount and using Sony NP style batteries like their grip. But hey - if you buy the grip then you get more power. Still everyone complains which is kinda funny.
Especially the 4k for like $1500... Or 6k raw at what... $2500?
I own both and they each have their place.
The 30 second video about AFI movie club - you didnt give much context for it. You mentioned global shutter / features then the video. What am i missing?
How is that video related to the article. Generally I trust if you embed a video it is related to the content but is NoFilmSchool literally embedding videos just for ads?
Android using chrome.
It wasnt super salesy or long - seemed like a camera test?
Should we not assume videos in blog posts are related from now on?
You bring up some good points about action and movement, obviously an older person isn't going to move like a younger person will but there are also other ways to counteract visually. Time remapping, VFX, stuntman can all change your look
Perhaps you could submit a guest post if they are too busy to write one.
Just because you can doesnt mean its ok. But fair use also has a role. Which this seems like it would fall under.
