It all depends on what you use it for. On my gimbal, the A7sIII looks to be a better camera for me. I much prefer the look of Full-frame and don't need an expensive adapter to achieve it. Speaking of things you'll need to get the camera up and running, you're gonna need a decent monitor on the zcam to make sure you're in focus and a remote follow focus with wheel so you can run that focus on a gimbal (how I use my camera mostly). You're gonna need a power supply and or battery to get up and running as well. So now I think that $2000 might not quite be $2000. Oh and cards/media. You can use vast SD cards for everything but the highest 240fps recording settings. Many reviewers have said it's the best 240 they've seen in a mirrorless camera. CF express is expensive so you'll have to figure that in.
Dynamic range actually measured at just 10.8 stops at a signal to noise ratio of 2.
The new sony gets 13 stops with the same signal to noise ratio! That's more than 2 stops, more than 6 1/3 clicks of your aperture or iso! No redundant recording on the E2 as it has just one CF express slot. A7sIII has 4 card slots!!! 2 per each media that can be recorded redundantly on WHILE recording to a recorder.
All this to say that the E2 camera is great but I don't think that you can argue it can do what the A7sIII camera can do.
Records full frame
shoot waaaay better low light
Record to inexpensive SD internal media
Record backups/redundant and or scratch media for editing and no transcoding
Insane auto focus/ no need for rigging external focus wheel
Flipscreen for different angled shooting or gimbal use without an external monitor
2 more stop of dynamic range
Most importantly I can use all my collection of lenses from my a7rIII stills cameras.
You give that’s how all raw works. 6K BRAW is great...don’t know about 8K canon raw “light” though....
cinemaDNG is different than dng. I believe the photos are still dng
Drooling after this cart for that exact reason but can’t justify the cost. Been using the rock n roller carts with grip bag and it’s been amazing until it’s not....broke at the weld in just a few years. Had it welded and another weld broke. It does fold nicely and only costs $300.
For me it's not about the 8K per se. It's about the great 4K 60p and 120p we might see because of the 8K. It's not about the ISO 240,000 but about the cleaner ISO 3,200 that results from it as well as the DR still achievable at those higher ISO's. I welcome progress.
I listened to an interesting podcast (NewYork Times Daily) in which a fair argument is made about white fantasy in Hollywood. These impossible stories like Driving Miss Daisy tell a narrative of a white person’s journey from racist to less racist in order to feel better about our past and present transgressions in America. He argues these feel good movies do more harm than good. A, “look, it’s not that bad. There are good people and we’ve made great progress. I’m not as bad as the people on the screen, therefore I have no racist tendencies myself”. I haven’t seen the Green Book but found Black Klansman to be a great movie.
