great post thank you! in the last few weeks i was trying to figure out what the deal with licensing music for short videos. for example when i produce a ~3m video for friends and family to share on facebook or youtube. it did not seem like it is easily possible to pay an artist for their music for a non commercial purpose. for one of those clips i had contacted "one republic" and got permission. it took over 2 months from the moment i reached until youtube approved the video. i think that process should be way simpler so thank you for sharing songFreedom.
