Writer/Director

Ryan Koo is the Founder and CEO of No Film School.

Koo’s first feature AMATEUR is a Netflix Original Film and Sundance Screenwriters Lab selection.

Koo received Sundance’s first Asian American Fellowship as well as additional support from Tribeca, IFP, and the Film Society of Lincoln Center.

His short version of AMATEUR won multiple film festival awards and was selected as a Vimeo Staff Pick.

For his web series THE WEST SIDE, Koo won the Webby Award for Best Drama Series and was named one of Filmmaker Magazine’s 25 New Faces of Film.

Article Comment – The future of cinematography; or, how I learned to stop worrying and love the DSLR

There's some interesting discussion of 5dMkII vs. GH1 here. I'd love to have the 24p of the GH1, but not at the expense of low-light sensitivity, inferior codec, ISO banding, and no hacked firmware. As it is, putting together a DSLR shoot package feels fairly future-proof, as pro DSLRs hold their value well, and one could swap out the cam itself and keep everything else the same (when a superior model is released). This, of course, is basically the RED "brain" model.
