Boards Comment – Vimeo

Unfortunately, Vimeo is terrible at playback. I can stream six different 1080p youtube videos at the same time while also watching a Netflix video without any of them lagging or downgrading to lower quality. I can't watch a single SD video on Vimeo without it stopping to buffer and then never restarting. This is on my iMac, and two different PCs. On any browser: chrome, safari, firefox.

For instance, I've been waiting on this video to load the entire time I wrote this comment and it hasn't yet: https://vimeo.com/28794320

Terrible service.

Article Comment – Shooting Ratios, From Hitchcock to 'Fury Road' to 'Primer' (and What They Mean to You)

I am wondering if any filmmakers out there have experimented with artificially limiting shooting ratio to simulate a filmmaking experience with video that has limitations more similar to film? As in, "we only have X amount of cards or gigabytes, and we aren't going to dump them once they're full." I had considered doing this before, but have never actually committed to it. Some films might blossom under such pressures.
