Ryan, thank you for your closing comment: the very reason that Lytro is in the position they are in is because the concept, while sound, is not sexy in practice... and that has been true of their first 2 hardware offerings, which is why they are still living [and potentially dying] on investor's money.
My greatest hope for Lytro is that they become something like a "Panavision of Light Field cinema"- relevant at the high end, and eventually free/generously loaned to students and indies.
