The XA40 and the Vixia G60 look like the same camera, but the XA40 comes with mic inputs. Different target markets I suppose, but surprised the G60 isn't like $1599 instead.
Alternatively you could just buy a UV filter and some fishing line to replicate two of these filters.
the other, you could just glue some shards of glass to a UV filter.
$75 per filter for these is a bit nuts.
You could DIY this for like less than $40.
And a 2 GB graphics card to boot!
Those prices are bonkers. Even the i5 rig is way overpriced.
Cool idea but I can see mounting it presenting it's own set of problems since you have to worry about the USB cable and where you are drawing power from or mounting whatever is delivering the power. they are also pretty tiny and the bulbs appear to be pretty spread out instead of condense together so I'd like to see more tests of how well they deliver light.
Also high resolution can be very helpful for post workflows. (presents it's own challenges of course in terms of storage and processing.)
