Hi im Steve a filmmaker from Bradford West Yorkshire, after loosing my job back in 2009 i decided to follow my passion of film making. Ive made lots of short films and music videos but really wanted to make feature films. I figured that if I can make shorts them I cam make features, so off i went. In 20012 I co wrote "A Total Thug Up" with Terry Turner and shot the film in and around Bradford, i edited the film in 2013 and got a distribution deal in 2014, the film will be released in 2015. My next film "Tears in the Dust" which I wrote. The film will be shot in Bradford throughout the summer of 2015. My goal is to make as many films as possible bringing in new up and coming actors to be shown in cinemas. I am very focused in all aspects of film production. I taught myself editing, camera use storyboarding, pretty much everything to do with movie making. It took about 3 years to learn but it is now starting to pay off. My advice to a wanna be film maker is don't give up, if you are passionate about film making then stick with it. It dam hard work but it rewarding, seeing your film in all its glory.
Well my second non budget feature Tears in the Dust is now in post production, after the nightmare of distributors I've decided to go self distribution, I think it will be easier to be honest. Plus we get to show it in a few cinemas too this time.
So next year I will be on my third feature "On the Run" then the year after will be "the Get Out" busy few years coming up. Keep smiling guys, keep making films.
Every short film, music video interview is experience. I started the same way, I needed a music video for one of my track, could not afford it so i tried the DIY route. Then I went to seminars to gain some knowledge, watch countless online tutorials and videos and five years on im making features with no budget or little. If its your passion and dream then you will pullout all the stops to follow it. It dosnt matter if you have zero budget, get some friends to act and do a short movie and go out and do it. Yes its worth it, go for it.
Brilliant, this has given me a boost, thought it was only me that made no budget feature films at weekends, with very little. Thank you for posting this.
