The 3 minute limit is on the D5. The D500 4K record limit is 29:59. Now, it does break that into individual files to deal with the FAT limitations. But still, you should have the full 29:59 once you put all the clips on your timeline.
Awesome! The only thing is, you'll have to buy up some Canon batteries if you shoot with other cameras other than Canon (I have a Nikon right now).
This was really interesting! Great bit of info, and quite helpful. It's neat that sometimes the difference is real subtle with the negative fill, but it can make quite a difference in a shot.
