The 3 minute limit is on the D5. The D500 4K record limit is 29:59. Now, it does break that into individual files to deal with the FAT limitations. But still, you should have the full 29:59 once you put all the clips on your timeline.
Awesome! The only thing is, you'll have to buy up some Canon batteries if you shoot with other cameras other than Canon (I have a Nikon right now).
This was really interesting! Great bit of info, and quite helpful. It's neat that sometimes the difference is real subtle with the negative fill, but it can make quite a difference in a shot.

Thanks NoFilmSchool for sponsoring this giveaway! That's a pretty good list of gear in that package. :)
I think the addition of the discussion/question boards has really helped the NFS site. The articles seem a little more click bait-ish as of late, but I still find the majority of content on here helpful. They could do with a bit more beefiness to some of the articles though. I still check NFS almost every day and am very thankful for this site!
For people looking for some other film related sites to read as well, I would suggest RedShark for news (http://www.redsharknews.com/) and Wolfcrow for workflow tips and tutorials, as well as some beginner film-making learning resources (http://wolfcrow.com/).
