My take? The story ended with Return of the Jedi. We're asking these writers and directors to keep it going when the heart of what Lucas wanted to say already has a period. Disney, of course, saw it as an ellipsis so we got three more movies that weren't necessary to the story. These talented guys are set up to fail, IMO.

I can 100% vouch for the Film Fund competition after winning it two years ago. Not only is it legit, it’s fast!

And in a short, you essentially have page one to set these elements in play.

Interesting to hear how these films came to be and some of the approaches to them, BUT I found the headline misleading. This was more of a roundtable on discussing filmmaking than a "What it takes to get into Sundance."
