Any tool used on set is there because it is the answer to a problem. What problem does Lytro solve?

Non fresh film student who was in the crowd. I think what they were trying to convey is that that shit is SHARP and CONTRASTY, because obviously display medium won't actually change DOF. There was so much contrast in the background that it was competing with the foreground, even though some of the talking head b-roll was shot on pretty long lenses.

Guides and general information exist for many older mechanical cameras. I've been dying for more guides and services like iFixit.
