This is very cool. Never even heard of Tugg. Something to think about for future projects. Thanks for sharing.
My first thought as I was reading this was, "this guy will never play that festival again." Maybe I'm wrong but I think festivals like most other institutions have their own agenda and standing where we're all standing as filmmakers, we'll probably never know what that agenda is. I think what this filmmaker did for his own peace of mind was smart. I'm just not sure if I would have called them out on it. The fact that they never apologized for not watching it kinda says it all, no?
I'd also like to add that the film looks excellent.
Dead iOS link.
Just curious, what festival was The Safdie Brothers' THE INCIDENT previously in?
From what I can see, they did away with it. The entire Staff Pick page was redesigned without the Shout Box. I liked it too.
Actually, no, it's not false. The Vimeo Staff Pick Premieres is not the same as Vimeo Staff Picks. This is new and it's an online film festival that they're curating all year. I just sent them an email for more info and this was in the email response:
Please remember that only films that have played in competition at an Oscar-qualifying event in the past two years are eligible for submission. Unfortunately, we cannot consider any submissions that do not meet this requirement.
