Article Comment – Expert Advice on Unpacking Your Comedic Screenwriting Toolbox

All I know is filming a comedic script requires skills out of this world. Everytime I see a "let's make a comedic webseries" I shrug.

Boards Comment – Do we need Cinematographers anymore?

Jeff, the presentation above leaves off the guys that sits there and operates that mouse pointer that gives emotions to the 3-d model.

That operator is still a part of the film crew.

The only way we are getting rid of the film crews is we invent the AI which based on the tweets you read, purchases you made on amazon, your ZIP, and the weather that day will be making perfectly custom movies just for you ^_^

Boards Comment – Good Places for free ($$$-wise) royalty-free music?

http://freemusicarchive.org/ by any chance? It has the grid search -- move the mouse to "by genre" and you'll see options: jazz, classical, electronic, etc.

On a separate note I get my music done by folks on Craigslist -- $20 can buy you some nice guitar riffs. Plus supports the community! Try it!

Boards Comment – Film Noir Lighting

Film noir is all about contrasts and how light is used to tell a story -- i.e. a character moving from a shadow into light.

It should be shot in B&W from the get go.

Consider the characters in the original '64 Fail Safe:

and the 2000 Fail Safe:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=djqlAT-7be4

The difference speaks for itself. The original noir -- the highlights are actully burned and the shadows are unrecoverrable. Anything else and it will look like the cheesy 2000 home video conversion ;)

Good luck!
