And I also understand this wasn't your intention.
Thanks Josh, check out the Shogun in Nov to see if it's a product that meets your requirements.
Shogun can record over HDMI in 4K, we are working closely with Panasonic Japan and Sony Japan to ensure our products work as intended with these affordable 4K cameras.
I understand, it can just damage a brand that's all.
You get 4K over HDMI with the Shogun, the A7s is looking great in 4K.

Thanks for the suggest, we have heard this from multiple users.
I work at Atomos, and this statement is untrue. Here is a statement from the CEO of Atomos:
In reference to the Atomos have approval for the license of 4K ProRes, until we ship the unit in its final form this month, this is when the announcement will go on the Apple website. Convergent Design has incorrect information and is completely incorrect in the above statement. Atomos and Apples relationship is very close, we have been partners for 4 years and continue to be the leader in ProRes recorders. It’s flattering that Convergent Design are so worried about the Shogun, however making things up and hoping we “don’t” have a license is wishful thinking. We are in the business of partnering with Apple to sell ProRes devices. We can record from the GH4 and A7S, we include all codec options in the box, we allow you to use affordable $200 media not $800 media, we give you everything in the box. Let the games begin in November - we love competition and we are 100% focused on our products, not what competitors are doing - that is how you lead markets :)
