Breaking the Fourth Wall is Not the Most Important Storytelling Element in ‘The Big Short’
7 years ago
I loved this movie. I consider it one of the most important and entertaining films of the last decade. Unfortunately, as transparent as it is, I think a lot of people won't be able to understand it and others will knock this movie because they trust the banking system.
To say it another way, I think a lot of viewers are going to take a good idea (rating and review systems) and turn them into an atomic bomb of fraud and stupidity that will be on its way to decimating the value of this film. That's a joke that most people won't get, but it's also true, kinda like this movie.
A side note: Margot Robbie and Selena Gomez's performances/scenes were among the worst in the film; both shameless plugs for talentless hacks. Robbie in particular is about as morally and ethically corrupt as any banker in the film, winning her spot in Suicide Squad after a public affair with Will Smith on the set of Focus. I wonder what lengths she went to in order to secure this role.
