Intention and obstacle are important. But if they are obvious they become a children's book. I thought Sorkin wanted to write for smart people. His writing is basically brilliance for teenagers. His scripts are never deep, nor thought-provoking. Just pop corn. Which is all that Lincoln was. Look at Atom Egoya films. Less obvious paths to resolving conflict.
