Thank you for your advice!
Im very open to and have done many owner/operator projects, I talked to the director about what my time and equipment are worth and was advised that because other crew are providing their time and equipment over multiple days at the same low rate i'm expected to do the same.
I doubt they'll provide any form of insurance for my equipment I'm afraid.
I will check out share grid.com, thanks for taking the time to reply!
Thanks for your response! It was interesting chatting to the director as I clarified the costs associated with the gear and my time and they basically said that because the other crew were happy to provide their time and their gear for a small fee over multiple days that I should be fine with that as well.
I don't think they'll be offering any insurance towards equipment unfortunately.
I will definitely create a detailed equipment list with serial numbers as well, thanks for the tip!
Because the film community is tight nit where I'm from I won't back out because of reputational consequences but I will be asking for all details before saying yes to a project future.
I totally agree, I’ll weigh the options, thanks again for your input.
I talked to the Director about it and he insists that I would be the only one using my equipment and that all other crew are happy to list their own gear to use on the shoot for the same small nominal pay.
It doesn’t sound like Fair industry practice to me, even for a no budget short film.. thanks for your feedback Guy!
Having the same issue right now, glad it's not just me!
