Director, Screenwriter, Editor
yan is an LA-based filmmaker from Toronto, Canada. He graduated with a BFA at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago - one of the last film schools to shoot and cut on film.
He's written lots of screenplays by himself and with others. Some have been optioned, some were work for hire and some are collecting virtual dust on his laptop.
Directing is Ryan's true love. Being in the trenches alongside a team of collaborators all racing to get that shot before sundown is truly thrilling and very rewarding to him. He tries to keep that part of him sharp by directing as much as he can. You can find Ryan geeking out on Youtube interviews of his favorite directors, including: Kubrick, Kurosawa, Spielberg, Ford and Peckinpah.
One time Ryan had a social-outreach docu-series on TV, "Life Line Booth," which aired on Participant Media's TV division. Back in college, he made a doc exploring the 'music motive' to the Manson murders called "Cease to Exist," which continues to be re-uploaded today by fans. You can find those and other works of his on Vimeo.
Going on adventures, camping and seeing the world keeps Ryan inspired and grounds an overactive imagination he's always had since he can remember.
