as an external martial artist i want to say that only medications can help with blocking pain..
as an internal martial artist i say that qigong is a great art for learning how to focus your chi to allow your body to not so much block pain, but to lessen the pain and begin healing itself.
our bodies can do more than our ignorance allows us to perceive.
give you an example.. in march i was rushed to the er, with severe abdominal pains and a yo-yoing blood pressure that wouldn't level off.. i was basically in septic shock.. unbeknownst to myself i had ovarian systs that was leaking into my blood stream and basically poisoning me from the inside. while the er staff was chaotically trying what they could to get my blood pressure to rise and stay at a normal level, i took it upon myself to begin tai chi bong position (the basis for all yang tai chi) as i layed on the gurny. in a matter of minutes i was able to focus my chi on controlling the pain and my blood pressure began to return to normal levels.. for know more, check this website this website
so don't let anyone tell you this is a stupid question.. it's actually one that internal martial artists know something about..
hope this helps!
1. Clearly describe the action. If the reader can't clearly envision the action taking place, the action scene will only confuse them. Try to describe things simply and concisely. Don't try to be fancy or flowery in describing the action. Just be clear
2. Clearly describe the environment where the action takes place before the action starts in earnest, so you won't write stuff like, "Then Neo picked up a car and hurled it at Agent Smith," when the fight is taking place inside a shopping mall. Sure, there could be a car in a shopping mall, but it's jarring to read that when you haven't first established that some automobile dealer has put cars in the mall as a promotion.
3. Make the majority of your action scenes further the plot. A bunch of pointless action that occurs for no reason gets boring. If two characters are just sparring, figure out a way to use it to move the plot along.
4. Make your characters experience real peril. If a fight occurs where all of your main characters are obviously safe, why should the reader care? Help your reader experience the peril through your characters' eyes, and the reader will take the action scene more seriously.
I will write about it on my blog http://cooperleonard.wikidot.com/
Interstellar travel is possible with today's technology.
Considering how far we have advanced in only 100 years, almost anything is possible in the future.
We could travel interstellar now but it would require a very advanced spaceship with a multi-generational crew traveling hundreds of years. Nuclear propulsion could work for such a travel method. I personally believe we will improve on what we know and there will be breakthroughs in Physics that will permit far faster travel than we are yet capable of obtaining.
It is the destiny of man to colonize space. I can only imagine how far we will have gone in 500 years from now.
