Just uninstalled QT on my Windows 10 work station. I record video with a Canon T5i, which only outputs MOV files. I also can't afford to upgrade to a subscription service, so I'm stuck with an ancient Adobe CS4 license, and the free Davinci Resolve license. Neither have recognized MOVs following the uninstall, and every file conversion I've tried has resulted in visible quality loss.
Well, there was one exception when I converted an MOV to an AVI in VLC while preserving the original audio and video tracks, but the resulting file was unrecognizable in editing software.
This is a pretty daunting issue out of left field. While I have never willingly purchased an Apple product, I realize it's their right to pull their products when and how they see fit. What's painful is realizing that legacy hardware and software built to depend entirely on that pulled product is effectively useless now. Not really sure how or if I'll be able to continue pursuing a career in independent film.
