Isn't this also part of a larger societal issue. You see this in every industry. The rich kids are able to take a chance on a small business or a summer backpacking Europe and so on. Life is hard for everyone who isn't rich or already well connected in their industry.
Headlining? It's the only deal on here. No one else had anything?
I'm blown away by how noisy the Alexa Mini is at 800 ISO. Not what I expected.
Can I just point out how cool it is that you took the time to respond to so many of these comments with thought out responses? It's so easy for people to post an article and call it good. Let the comment section fight it out on their own. Or to just respond with a dismissive one-line response. Good on you. I love the idea of the monthly film festival. That sounds fun.
I know everyone hates Mel Gibson and I'm sure he deserves it, but his character, Porter, from Payback was always one of my favorites.
Sex in a scene can absolutely be a part of the storytelling, which is why I would never say never on that front. However, there are a LOT of sex scenes that do nothing for the story. They purely exist to provide some steaminess for people who don't want to watch actual porn.
It's not something I'd enjoy shooting, or dealing with on set. I feel like there are plenty of ways to get the point across without a steamy scene ("Contact" nailed that. My 10 yr old worked out that they'd slept together and there was nothing really there.) It's not for me as a filmmaker and I personally don't care for it in films and TV unless it has a purpose to the story.
That said, I'd never say no one should ever have a pointless sex scene in a movie. That's just silly.
