Boards Comment – Why I Regret Shooting in RAW

I hear you. I’m producing a documentary and I made some huge mistakes going in... I hired a “trained” director who vetted the cinematographer, and it turned into an expensive experience. My worst nightmare turned out to be true (poor audio), the director hijacked the production, did not follow the script, asked only the questions I prepared (ie no experience in documentaries/interest in the subject matter), and never reviewed the footage. I ended up spending huge amounts to fly out and redo the audio, filming, and interviews solo... I had zero confidence going it alone—but the good news is I have a ton of experience now and a lot more confidence. I am back on track.
