Clickbait article. On Facebook, this article is called "Blackmagic's Boring Detector is Really Messed Up". Here, it's titled something completely different. Nice one No Film School.
This "feature" can be turned off. It's a tool. Don't like it? Don't use it. Is it needed? No? Can it help less-experienced editors? Yes! Can it help identify area's that "potentially" be area's to increase the pacing? Yes. Does that mean if you decide to use a long-take, it will make it boring? No.
Just chill. At the end of the day, if Premiere Pro had this feature, I'd employ it immediately. The segment editors I work on get snow blinded by interview content and forget to spice those up with BROLL. An editor can turn it on, pin-point a long stretch of interview and ask themself if there is anything they can do.
And, you won't have to convert any of your footage as the latest version will automatically convert your footage fo you.
