This article should be required reading for all indies. I love that he hammered on making your film yours and not trying to emulate the Hollywood crap fest (emphasis added.)

Article Comment – 5 Bad Habits You Should Break If You Want to Get Better at Filmmaking

For me a bad habit is shooting with people I don't know. We did a 3 day competition and had an amazing team. A Red camera, 1 Hollywood actress and 2 soon-to-be Hollywood actors. At the last minute the DP/director/writer bailed and took his camera and our Hollywood actress with. I should have left too but I stuck it out. We ebded up with a director who shot on a borrowed consumer DSLR with a kit lens and a photography tripod who didn't slate a single shot. Needless to say, our film suffered greatly. I was still able to make a decent edit but it would have been so much better if we had all of the people we already knew. Lesson: don't work on a shoot that has a weak link.

Article Comment – This Guy Used Free Software to De-Age 'The Irishman' and...It Looks Great

Was the aired footage just tweaked? If so, how did he rip the video? The Netflix codec (from what I've seen) is pretty bulletproof. It does look really good though, however he did it.
