People on a limited budget no longer have to spend hundreds of $$$ on film school or a private mentor! This online course is much better than the Master class one because it's free!You can take the course at your own pace and never need to worry about spending additional $$$ to renew it!! The web site offers a separate fee if you want to get certified but IMO it's not really worth it! Good Luck!!

Owning the industry standard Final Draft scriptwriting software and following your dreams are much more passionate than attending any film school.IMO the challenge is two fold. Learning to write a script from home with as little outside expensive as possible.Final Draft offers free instructional videos with the purchase of their software. There are plenty of free Final Draft Youtube instructional videos online as well. Master class offers a year of online instructional tutorials by industry insiders like Aaron Sorkin and Ron Howard. The second challenge which at first blush seems insurmountable is getting your script to the right people.Local physical as well as online screenwriting clubs are a way to get your script critiqued as well as learning about the marketing side of the business.You learn about the pitch meeting where the scriptwriter has only a few minutes to correctly explain the high concept of the script and later is quickly quizzed on what the meaning of each character is while trying to defend the script's original premise.While the standard Hollywood pitch meeting may seem unfair,what film producers look for is if the author is able to clearly articulate the passion and motivation behind the film. If the author shows any doubt about their story or characters they will be rejected.Scriptwriters that are comfortable with their stories and characters usually have no problem with the 5 minute pitch meeting.The final challenge will likely be finding contacts within the industry and maybe getting an agent to shop your script too.
