I just watched 1985's "Come and See," about the belorussian villages during WW2. It's a harrowing film. Incredibly powerful.
In an early scene the soldiers come to a farm house and drink milk from the woman. It reminded me of the opening of Inglorious Bastards. Perhaps a remote influence for QT.
