Canon needs to have a Sony A7Siii equivalent. An affordable 4K 10 bit 4:2:2 camera. The EOS Cinema range with 4K STARTS at $10K in Australia. For indie or part timers like myself, I can’t justify huge outlays in an ever improving digital age, esp with the COVID disruption that may change production in some way going forward. I can justify $5K esp with the A7Siii’s specs. (I have really enjoyed my A7Sii).
Those specs sound great! Admittedly, I haven’t tried a 6 or 8k downsampling camera, but I‘d be happy with a good 4k implementation. I’d also appreciate better colour science, perhaps a gentler Venice style. Big pixels, again, should mean good tonality and low noise for people who don’t have a big lighting crew. Easier custom WB function. Wi-Fi to smartphone like the Canon 5D4 to monitor and operate the camera would be ideal. Better auto focus is a must. Here’s hoping.
