I’ve been reading Nofilmschool since it started. Just wanted to let you know that today I stop.
The only way I could ever understand you publishing an ‘article’ so one-sided is if it were paid for by Canon, and if this is the case, you should disclose this fact.
There are lots of young filmmakers reading your blog, and they will trust you when you say they ‘should buy an EOS-R right now’. It’s irresponsible to forget to mention the insane crop, worthless R lenses, no AF in slow mo (which is 720p!), rolling shutter, lack of stabilisation etc...
A post like this is misleading and unbalanced, and completely against what I thought nofilmschool stood for, which was hands-on, practical information for young self sufficient film makers making their way through the industry. This is a classic hard-sell, and not even done with any flair.
Congratulations on the film, and thanks for giving us this insight into your process.
It's very inspiring to see people breaking the rules and making great work.
I was wondering which Vari-ND you chose. I've been looking into the various options and trying to make a selection. I'm shooting some stuff in the snow in Norway so I'd appreciate your advice.
