Well said. I think the argument that Scorsese is making is similar to the open ended political question in the US. Are companies individuals? We can clearly see how that turned out for the good of the nation. He is actually trying to protect our rights to express ourselves as individuals and not to be eye candy addicts. Too much sugar not good for you big fat America. Add something healthy to your diet. Big faceless conglomerates are not in the business of making cinema. Cinema is made by directors with unique voices that delve into the depths of human complexity... human, not superhero. Superheros that fly, or throw mighty hammers or turn green when they get mad are a reflection of how distant we've become from our own emotions and how little empathy we have for our fellow man and woman. Synthesized computer generated emotions kind of seem real enough so we accept it like another really bad for you potato chip. Junk food, junk movie... Scorsese was nice when he called it amusement park entertainment, because let's face it, we live in a world that has been dominated by big conglomerates who don't care about art or the human need to express. They just want to sell as many hot dog franchises for their share holders as possible. And Americans in general aren't raised to be cultured, they are raised to make money because that's what makes you happy. Whoever dies with the most toys wins. I mean that's what the conglomerates want us to believe. Consume me, and you will be cool and get more likes. Scorsese is and always will be an independent thinker and doesn't get his thoughts from watching youtube. Thank God or whatever Superhero you believe in that Marty stood up to the mighty conglomerate hydra beast called Marvel. Marty is a true American genius artist known worldwide for his contribution to cinema. Marvel will forever be just a conglomerate.
