Shoot and edit as much stuff as you can now, whether it's with a iPhone or cam corder, doesn't matter the quality of the video now, you just want to practice the process. Reaching out to volunteer for indie films, getting an internship, etc, these are all valuable ways to learn the craft, good luck and get out and do it.
