There is a little bit of that on Story by Robert Mckee, he does not says too much about it but, he puts Pulp Fiction as a example, Pulp Fiction are 3 stories with a lead character on each story, in some point this 3 stories get meld.

You are talking about a Fore shadow?, if you are talking about that there is one and good example on The wizard of oz (1939). The Fore shadow is the music, it sounds when the bad which appears.
