Just because you need to use 1500 MTU to get certain software/hardware to work in your workflow, does not mean that the network tweaks in the blog no longer apply. By using jumbo frames you are making your network pipe as fat as possible, by reducing frame size back down to 1500MTU you will see a maximum network throughput decrease from ~9.8Gbit/s to ~ 8.9GBit/. Which is still very fast.
