The first thing I would change in this article is the opening line "You've got." That is terrible grammar. Yes, the phrase is used all the time, but as artists or wannabe artists it just sounds like you are being lazy/slack in your word choice. It should read: "You have a little money...", not " You have got a little money..."
Get the Metabones Ultra .71 Speed Booster for micro 4/3 mounts. It will work and give you a 1.42x crop factor (close to Super35). Skip the XL unless you want vignetting on certain crop sensor lenses.
Where have you been living? Under a rock? Fake news has been around long before 2016. The internet is full of it. Fox (I mean Faux) News popularized it for a large portion of the masses. Other TV news outlets, especially, are run as entertainment and not for hard hitting journalism.
The Fourth Estate is dying just when we need them most. That's why so many were duped by The Donald... one of the greatest inventors of fakery we've had since P.T. Barnum.
I have to wonder if they shot the pilot on film to establish the look and then switched to digital cameras, like the Alexa and Alexa65 or RED, and tried to recreate the same filmic vibe a bit more cheaply. I know TV shows definitely may start with skilled, veteran DP's for the first couple episodes, and then they create a master template for the under-studies to use after they take over.
This is, after all, a very, very expensive show with some pricey, well-known actors. "Game of Thrones" got away with some of it because they mostly had a non-A-list cast. But once the European tax havens started drying up (especially after Brexit), it was game over for that series.
The GH5 needs a much better, more stable editable codec with true S Log 3 style LUT functionality, wider color gamut (at least P3 if not wider), some HDR video capture capabilities, and far less rolling shutter.
However, I doubt that will happen as Panasonic, like every other camera maker, won't want to cannibalize its pro-sumer and professional line of cameras that cost many thousands more.
It will take a heck of a lot to get me to not want to move to something like the Sony FS7 and drop these tiny mirrorless cameras that have to be greatly rigged up to make them professional gig ready. Might as well go for a better camera to begin with.
HBO is steadily losing its quality. There's a reason there are joke slogans like "It's not Porn, it's HBO" floating around. They're starting to mask basically C grade scripts with T&A and ultra violence, and even more swearing.
With their upcoming "Westworld" it looks like they've taken GoT and amped everything to 11 along with graphic violence towards women and pushed into the NC-17 category with its sexual depictions. That's all they have to offer: puerile, base content to get people to tune in every week.
"Breaking Bad" and "Better Call Saul" are far and away better scripted shows than some of the big hits on HBO, Cinemax, and Showtime, and prove they can do far much more with less given a creative show runner, superb actors, and wonderful writers. Since the characters can't swear as often due to them being basic cable shows, they've honed adult language into a scalpel and made it sharp edged again rather than use it in every other sentence and dull the impact.
