If it were just an uploader it would still save a lot of time but it's significantly more than an uploader. Stay tuned.
Yes but Ryan (founder of No Film School) is also on the private beta. We don't put out vaporware. This product will ship before NAB.
It's very real and it very much works. We have about 20 companies using it in private beta right now :)
The honest answer is we chose to go with FCPX because our engineers had more experience developing with it. We aren't making a political statement one way or the other. I personally use FCP-X and Premiere. There are others on our team that exclusively use Avid. There's a place in the eco-system for all of them.
Frame.io co-founder here. We maintain all the metadata when you upload to Frame.io which means if the files are downloaded you can search the metadata in spotlight. The next step is to make it searchable within Frame.io :)
First step is mobile browser support which is coming in a matter of weeks.
