Come on guys cut the company some slack. They are just trying to sell a product and english is not their first language so I can see why some people are criticizing his responses.
With that said it does seem like a good deal but not an unheard of one. A couple of companies put out products similar and near the same price point. I believe with all options though this one is just slightly cheaper. With that said the real question is how it holds up. The other companies have their share of issues but lets be honest, for the price you can't expect something built like a tank or preforms like one. Its good start though.
The major difference is movies are not real. This subject was debated back in the early 90s when it was film vs video 24 v 30. It's a small diffence in frame rates but it was a large one as far as look. The conclusion was 24fps suspends disbelieve is what you absolutely want because we are watching actors and things that are fake
If Peter Jackson proved anything it's that higher frame rates and play back don't work. The Hobit was such a flop. In fact I think it was abandoned by the 3rd film or at least playback of it.
Ang Lee isnt very technicial in cinematography anyway. He has an incredible vision but he relies heavy in his DPs to create the look. I once attended a small workshop with Peter Pau and the way it seemed was Ang Lee gave very little direction how to get the shot he just explained what he wanted and it was up to him the DP to make it happen.
So Lee is being a little silly here, silly rabbit.
Your internet sucks then
Let me educate you fools that are downing this product. It's obviously because you lack real world experience and working on project where a product such as this can be useful. I do a lot of tv shows it's my main line of work. Yes this in no way replaces a normal audio setup nor should it, but there are situations where this is a game changer, well not really because Lectros kinda already offer a product with this capability, but those are usually way out of small budgets. But this for example is great for situations where frequency drop out is more then likely. For example car to car or riding a motorcycle where the audio mixer can not be in the vechicle and the person film will drop out of range. This has been a problem in a lot of filming of this type, now you can get that audio clean. Really for that matter this product works for any sistuation when the camera crew will be distanced from their filming subject, extreme sports, zip lining mountain climbing, skiing, running, aircraft, dangerous situations, moving vechicles
At this point in the game nothing stands out. Dynamic range isn't to bad but again nothing ground breaking, DR in some respects is over rated anyway. The image does look pretty nice but nothing ground breaking to the competition. Compared to say the Alexa it doesn't drastically look better if even that. I've seen FS7 and F5 footage that looks just as good as this. Its silly really we have cameras that are so on par with each other now days that we aren't comparing leaps and bounds we are comparing mere inches. You take a good DP, the can make amazing images with cameras costing a fraction of the cost of this camera or even an Alexa. There is a video where someone did Alexa look matching with an FS7 and you would be hard pressed to tell which is which. My point is camera evolution is getting pretty silly. Wow 8K! seriously you can barely, and I mean barely distribute 4K in any reasonable manner to the masses, in fact you can't to the masses and thats a fact. 4K is barely worth the extra resolution for 98% of content. I have 2 4K cameras and went back to shooting HD for most projects because even uploading to Youtube at 4K and watching on the 5K IMAC it didn't look much different then HD and other then that you have so few options to even distribute in 4K
