Article Comment – We Shot Our Film with a $600 Camera, 3 Lights, and No Budget (and Still Got Distribution)

Congratulations. Well done and inspiring to have done it with the budget that you did. Just to be clear A24, and Magnolia pictures, are the worlds top Indie Distributors not the one you got to distribute your film. People talking up their films here on nofilmschool recently is fine and all but I was curious so i paid and downloaded this film. I think it's proof that half the battle is just making your film. Making a film worth making is a whole nother topic. And one that should be focused on. Probably 60% of the films made are really a waste of time and resources, and making a film just to say "hey look at me, I made a film," should not be the criteria.

Article Comment – How Benh Zeitlin Made an ‘Impossible’ Film (and Why the Industry Is ‘Disturbing’)

Well based on the reviews this movie is terrible. A complete train wreck. Seems like a lot of wasted resources. Funny given the directors somewhat arrogant proclamations. Serves him right. He says things in his movie haven't been done before. I guess they shouldn't have been done at all. Can't say I'm not surprised though. Beasts of the Southern Wild was actually an incredibly cheesy movie. One that most people were too afraid to criticize I think.

Article Comment – 5 Fundamentals That Helped Me Make My Feature By Myself

More self congratulatory spew. David, if you look at the comments from your first article i don't know if i'd call it a massive success. Real question is what if anything are you saying with your film. To me it looks like a giant cliche. The notion that people can make great films with limited budget and gear is absolutely true and i applaud that idea. All the pixel peepers out there are missing the point. A great movie can ABSOLUTELY be shot with the a7s, or any other consumer camera. However, we don't need a million more meaningless waste of resources garbage movies out there. Hollywood is doing plenty of that. So, unless you have something unique to say, not just you David, but anybody, DON'T CLUTTER THE SPACE anymore than it already is, just so you can have your little name on the credits of some lame ass cliche meaningless drivel.

Article Comment – My Wife and I Made a 3000 Shot Feature Film By Ourselves (and You Can Too)

Really just his tone that's problematic. Film actually looks plenty good to be professional. Sound is also fine. Question is, is the story? But yeah. He'd get a lot more love if his tone was different.

Guy who made this film is clearly delusional/full of himself. Comes off as a joke. Will be laughing when this film makes no money and is a complete bust.
