The lack of simultaneous proxy recording still holds me back. I'm really hoping for a firmware update, even if if proxy and online need to go to the same CFast due to the physical toggle switch.
Better low light, smaller size, and WiFi remote control are all on the nitpicking list for me, but the proxy thing involves workflow which means it affects every shoot.
Anyone know how many AES channels are supported?
With the Canon 5D3 now shooting 4k raw I'm more easily distracted ;)
Sean, sadly no, there is no recording of two different formats simultaneously for a 'proxy' workflow. I confirmed this on the phone with Blackmagic right after the cameras were announced. It is a major omission. There's a physical switch to choose between SD OR CFast and you only get to pick one recording codec. I pray daily that this gets added in firmware. Without higher compression options on the camera, this seems extremely bizarre that BM didn't implement this–especially seeing as they make Resolve which is steeped in a history of online/offline workflows.
"If you can't make a great film with a 5Dmark whatever, chances are it ain't the cameras fault."
Please make a great film with the Canon 5D Mark 1 and share it with us here. Methinks gear does matter.
Really impressive device for the price. I've had a chance to test it somewhat thoroughly. Very disappointed at lack of Canon 10-18mm EFS STM support however. Makes it less than useful for something like the Blackmagic Pocket Camera.
