You can use a bunch of conversion apps, depending on what OS you have.
ML provides a program called raw2dng for this purpose. There are loads of other options on the ML forums: http://www.magiclantern.fm/forum/index.php?board=54.0
You can then even compress the DNG files to save space. I use this program: http://www.slimraw.com/ It pretty much halves the size of the raw data, keeping the full original quality and the files work in DaVinci and Premiere and, I guess, in everything else.
The lens is very good optically, very sharp. It also focuses really close, so it doubles as (near) macro. Because of the close MFD the focus ring rotation is huge. As with most Jena lenses the aperture tends to stick with time and it is easy to get dirt into the focusing helicoid. Its construction is very simple though and maintenance is straightforward.
$200 is ok only for a lens in great condition. This is more of a $150 lens otherwise. These lenses are abundant in Eastern Europe.
The one and only reason people won't use autofocus is that video autofocus implementations suck. When AF stops sucking (perhaps with the implementation in this camera) only dogmatists like you won't use it.
The autofocus features and manual focus guides look great. No hunting and precise focus.
Will be a hit for documentaries.
Yes, it is awesome! But you are right, it is probably the industry's best kept secret, haha. I don't recall ever seeing it mentioned in an article. I found about it from a big thread on DVXuser. People there use it with raw from Sony FS cameras which they capture on Convergent Design recorders and apparently that sony DNG gets compressed down by SlimRaw even more.
