Well even crazier ... Sharp last year released an infrared security camera that captures color 720p video, in absolute darkness, it doesn't even need the 0.0005 lux the canon does. So just buy a Sharp LZ0P420A, which only costs around $1400, and you'd save what $30k+, plus is a real security camera so just replaces existing ones with no hassle, and is fully weather sealed.
I can't see any company using 30k cameras (plus lenses) for nighttime surveillance/security purposes. If any company starts putting up security cameras worth this, the crooks will simply start stealing the security cameras ... it wouldn't take long for someone to realise that stealing 3 or 4 of these, and your looking at a haul worth $120k plus whatever the lenses cost, which as they are EF cinema lock the lenses are going to be anywhere from 300 to a couple of grand. Plus has no wifi, internet control, pan or zoom ... Hardly a security product is it.
