Although Andrea Riseborough did fantastic in "To Leslie", I felt her campaign was a bit high school. It was like the popular girls voting for their best friend during the last hour of voting for prom queen. Andrea is a rich white British woman cosplaying white American poverty and is being carried aloft by a well-connected Hollywood manager and an aggressive herd campaign of mainly rich white actresses. In my opinion, I felt Danielle Deadwyler (Till), Viola Davis (The Woman King), and Mia Goth (Pearl) took greater emotional risks for characters that were frankly more interesting and original.
