Article Comment – NVIDIA 10 Series Heads to a Laptop, and a Film Set, Near You

"...a gaming laptop doesn't tend to have the I/O ports that a video editor might be looking for"... USB 3, USB 3.1, Thunderbolt 3 - what else is an editor looking for SCSI?

Article Comment – DxOMark Gives the 1D X Mark II the Highest Score Ever for a Canon DSLR Sensor

Just shot last weekend for the first time with the 1DX MkII - wow! Such a great camera, image is beautiful and the autofocus may actually negate the need for a focus puller. Loved it!

Article Comment – The One Essential Ingredient of Every Successful Screenplay

I concur... heart is everything. They last two movies I watched on the big screen were Deadpool and Batman v Superman. One had immense, palpable heart and one was almost completely devoid of heart or feeling. Which was which? While Deadpool was one of the most technically perfect comic book film I've seen, the real hook was the love story - it was so intense and heartwarming and so real that I almost teared up at times. Heart is everything.

Article Comment – A Simple Trick to Make Your Color Grades More Cinematic & Professional

It's actually super easy to do in FCPX. Using the built-in Color Board you have 3 tabs Color, Saturation and Exposure - in the Saturation window you have 3 sliders: Shadows, Midtowns and Highlights. Just adjust each slider to your liking. You also have 3 sliders for Exposure making it pretty quick and simple to get a nice grade.

Article Comment – RED RAVEN Camera is Official: $6K for 4K RAW to 120fps & 2K ProRes to 60fps

I love the Canon cinema lens line - it's by far the best value in Cinema glass. The talent behind the lens is far more important than the brand or lens mount.

Exactly - plenty of great glass with Canon mount now including Angenieux Optima zooms which are a first choice of many A-list DP's. Not to mention XEEN, Rokinon, Milvus, Sigma Art, etc. If you've got the cash for PL mount and need Cooke or ARRI glass then you've got the money to shoot with Alexa, F65 or Weapon anyways...
