The episodes aren't all "feature length," the first one is only 54 minutes. 2nd is 60 minutes and the last 4 are 1hr 20 min, so 7:20 total.
Peter I agree with most of your sentiments, content/story is king, but what exactly is supposed to be the story in this video? lIt's just an exercise, shoot interesting looking footage of an uninteresting place. I don't think there is supposed to be a story.
IMO anytime you're out shooting is a good thing, regardless of your intent, so what's the harm in a little challenge? And for the record I think McKinnon is a douche and has gotten way more success than he deserves but I don't see what the problem is here.
And tone down the pretentiousness it's nauseating.
Lol you really think Redrock would charge $500 for something like this? They charge $500 for like 2 handgrips. Anyways its $5k, not $500.
FCPX gets a lot of hate but anyone hating on it still probably hasn't used it since it came out 7 years ago, and it has come a looooong way since then.
You're comparing a dedicated cinema camera to a stills camera that shoots video. Both cameras have things they do better than the other. BMCC has superior color science and color depth, but there is no comparison when it comes to low light. It all depends on what you're shooting, some situations the BMCC may be the best choice, and others the A7III.
And I used to say the same thing about AF, "the film industry has used manual focus since it's inception yada yada," but once I used a camera with good video AF I changed my mind. And for a gimbal with a single operator it's a godsend. Video AF was hit or miss up until recently, with this camera and the A9 it's another step in the right direction, that's why they're mentioning it.
I'm right there with you, but it's come a looooong way since 2011, it definitely had it's limitations at first but the updates have made it better and better. And no other NLE screams on a Mac system as much as FCP. People were just put off by the fact that it looked similar to iMovie initially. It was weird at first but as soon as I realized I could just hit "P" and effectively turn off the magnetic timeline it was a joy to use.
