Because of some health issues, I'm rather limited in what I can do, so my participation here is to film making what Fantasy Football is to the NFL. For the most part, anyway. That's not entirely a bad thing, though, as keeping my mind active does help. Also, a lot of the issues addressed here are interesting in their own right. You don't have to be a film maker to care about them.
500 bucks for a Honda with 141K on it?? In what country?
Relative to other states in the US, the cost of living in my city is quite low. Here, that car would sell for an absolute minimum of $1500. Heck, you could probably get upwards of $2000 for it. In areas like San Francisco and New York, I'll bet the price is twice that.
I must be missing something here...
They used 800 ISO in a poorly lit room *and* in bright sunlight?
Yeah, the term "rip off" is just incorrect here. The GoT team used ideas, they didn't rip off shots.
The video maker missed an homage/reference, though. The unveiling of the turbo-crossbow reminds me of the scene in The Wild Bunch in which they reveal the Gatling gun.
I'm pleased to see that *This is Spinal Tap* goes to 11.
Back before Netflix, I bought a couple of DVDs from this one guy....
He'd worked at a TV studio or some such place. This was in the 90s. They used a special - and pretty expensive - VCR. It actually upconverted the VHS tapes to a higher resolution. I think they used it for news footage. When the studio no longer had a use for the machine, they sold it to this guy and he used it to transfer VHS footage of punk bands and the occasional obscure movie to DVD, yielding a better picture than if he'd simply transfered the 240x360 footage as is. I never actually saw any of his VHS transfers; I just bought a couple of Laser Disc transfers. But he did seem to be very serious about his work.
He's been out of business for quite some time now. But maybe the type of VCR he used is now available on eBay. I'm sorry; I cannot remember what it was called. But it did exist.
