They are missing one camera in their "Comparison" : The Z9 from Nikon.
Used Lumix a lot in the past then moved to BMPPC4/6K and cannot go back to a Mirrorless... Until I had the Z9 (Z6 and Z7 where underwhelming). The Z9 in NRAW give me almost the BMPCC "look" without all the BMPCC "drawback" they are talking about in the video. My only complain with the Z9 is that they do not take the video part of the camera (UX/Feature) seriously. If Nikon added for example most of the features you have in a GH5/6 into the Z9 it would have been a killer.
Will the Z9 replace my BMPCC6K? No, but I will now have a 2nd Camera that I will not regret taking and wishing I have my BMPCC6K with me for some handheld shoots.
The cynical me: How can I collect a tonne of scripts in order to steal great ideas… Oh wait! Let’s make an app that read scripts for people and let these people send me their best ones ;-).
I know… how cynical of me to think all people are evil…
I have not tested this first hand, but from what I have seen on Youtube BRAW on Panasonic is not as well implemented as BRAW on BM Cameras or ProRes RAW. Personally I am way more interested in BRAW than PR Raw.
There is a lot to like about this camera, a LOT. But it really feels that it comes 1 year (at least) too late. The AF still, seems, to be bad (pulsing in the background...), and not launching the camera DAY one without ProRes RAW (where is BRAW??), SSD Recording and Other ProRes flavors is really lame.
I have been shooting on GH Series since the GH1 and until the GH5s, then I move up to BMPCC 4K and 6K now. While the BMPCC cameras have MANY defaults (No AF that you can rely on), the image coming out of these cameras are just mind-blowing, it will be really hard to go back to something like a GH just for that.
Anyway, nice camera regardless, just too late.
I don't know, Full Format sensor is not always the best sensor for every shoot and every camera, the BMPCC4K makes a lot of sense, it is small cheap, can adapt to a wide range of lenses and uses.
I am glad that Canon is going that "box" way, I hope BM will do too. But if I had to choose, I would prefer BM to put an M2 SSD slot in their next camera rather than changing the body design, oh and GYRO Metadata to be finally used for something such as better stabilization in post!
