Unfortunately the Phantom Gold 65 was discontinued a while ago. great camera thou.
But this topic is actually very interesting and its where the technology is heading.
From what I saw at the NFS post by Joe Marine I actually believe the Leica S (Type 007) shoots 1080p at the full sensor size. The 4K option is when the sensor get cropped.
Panavision confirmed recently their 65mm digital camera is on its final steps. Its hard to believe from such a delayed project but anyway, it shows that a major company is spending money in that direction.
I believe the Alexa 65 is a bigger deal than it seams actually. Another top company pointing in that direction with a product that in a couple years could be the standard acquisition for many major films.
I am currently working on a new feature project with director Tyler Shields that has some promising innovations on the hacked camera side. We'll be able to share the results of tests sometime soon..
I'm very curious if this topic gets more attention..
